Taxes is a poem about the end of the world and our first world mindset when we think about this apocalyptic scenario. Maybe someday we will all face consequences for how we are treating each other and then we’d be happy to pay our taxes, too.
lyrics
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I pay taxes
And so do you
It sounds so simple
It seems so plain
But it is constant
And the rest will change
All will be gone
And turn to ashes
We pay taxes
All that went wrong
Suddenly clashes
We pay taxes
I can’t stand it
It is true
But without taxes
What would I do?
In our society
To give a piece of me
When I rely on you
And you rely on me
All will be gone
And turn to ashes
We’ll pay taxes
All that went wrong
Suddenly clashes
We‘ll pay taxes
And I will, too
Somehow I will, too
Because everything I do
Will have its taxes, too
